MEET THE STAFF

Dr. Eddie Cooper Senior Pastor

Dr. Eddie Cooper and his wife, Lee, recently celebrated their 30 year anniversary and have a passion for loving and serving people, especially those who are the most vulnerable among us. The couple has six children, two sons-in-law, and a daughter in-law - Claira and Judd Alsup, Trey and Haley Cooper, Savannah and Dave McCarthy, Leo, Jessa, and Josiah Cooper. The growing family also has a granddaughter, Ellison Alsup (3), and are expecting 3 new grandchildren in 2022. Dr. Cooper is a local orthopedic surgeon and received his Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in 2016; Lee is the executive director for Kings Ranch Ministries and also serves as the pastoral secretary. The couple began serving at Huntington in 2005, and Dr. Cooper began pastoring the church in 2019. They desire to reach the lost for Jesus and see them grow into the men, women, and children that God wants them to be.

Chris Averitt Groups & Discipleship Pastor

Chris Averitt and his wife, Catherine, first served at Huntington Church as youth leaders in 2007. His role has evolved and he now serves as our Groups and Discipleship Pastor, a leader for young adults, and as an elder for Huntington. Catherine also serves as Huntington’s special events coordinator and teaches elementary Sunday school. Chris is a local attorney, but in his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife of 26 years, and their son, Graham, and his wife, Merrin, and their daughter Caroline. His family’s heart for Huntington is contagious, and their desire for ministry is that our 60 blocks, and the whole world, will come to a saving faith in Jesus—that they will know Him and make Him known. Outside of his day job, you can catch Chris listening to Tim Keller sermons, watching British crime shows, or enjoying Razorback football and basketball.

Doug Doggett Administrative Pastor

Some might recognize Doug Doggett as the previous news and weatherman in Jonesboro, but we know him to be an asset to our Huntington team! Doug serves as our Administrative Pastor and his wife, Leslie, leads our women’s ministry and serves as the administrative assistant at Huntington. Doug’s prayer is that by ensuring everyone has a safe and comfortable place to worship, it will draw more and more people to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Doug and his wife, Leslie, met after she discipled Doug’s daughter, Emily. The couple married in 2020 and share two daughters, a son, and a son-in-law - Madison Giles, Emily and Justin Taylor, Will Doggett, and their new grandson, Watson Giles. Outside the walls of Huntington, Doug has worked as a Financial Advisor for the past 20 years. When he’s not serving at Huntington, you can catch him spending time with family, hiking, playing golf, or enjoying college basketball, football and baseball!
